False Alarms

False alarms
are by far the most vexing issue facing the industry and the end user. An alarm system that false alarms will cause it's owner to lose by faith and patience and the user will tend to stop arming the alarm. There are regulations on how long a siren is allowed to sound before it must be turned off. For this reason it is paramount for the installer to choose detection equipment that is suited to the particular environment they are protecting. Whilst it is impossible to guarantee elimination of false alarms, much can be done to minimise them. The harmless gecko can be the alarm systems nemesis. Sometimes a simple solution such as smearing vicks vapour rub around a troublesome detector can solve this. Dualtec motion detectors are another option to minimise false alarms as they are less likely to be activated by ie a blowing curtain or a bug/rodent as they use a combination of technologies to minimize false alarms.
