Panels and Detection Equipment

Passive infra red
(PIR ) sensors activate when an object crosses one of the infrared beams that the sensor emits, while Microwave sensors use the same principles as radar. They send out a pulse of energy and measure the returning value. Sensors can cover a wide variety of angles and areas depending on your needs and, if you have pets, there are sensors that can distinguish between animals and humans so that your pets don’t set your alarm off.

Vibration or Seismic sensors can be fitted to specific equipment (such as a safe) or a specific location such as the brick wall protecting the safe. I attended a break & enter where the thieves broke in to the shop next to the targeted safe & cut through the back of the safe without setting of the PIR sensor protecting the front of the safe.

Digital camera detectors

Many modern CCTV or digital cameras can be used to trigger an alarm when movement is detected by them. They can even be programmed to only trigger if a particular area of the “Pixelated area” is detected. You could have a camera looking at a doorway next to a busy road and as soon as something happens near the door an alarm is raised, yet the camera will ignore passing vehicular traffic.
